See how you can contribute to our Towards 0 Waste initiative
The objective for the CEES is to work towards creating efficient, sustainable and economically viable cities so naturally the event itself is no exception. Towards 0 Waste is the pioneering sustainable supply initiative during the three day event held at Fira Barcelona in order to reduce waste and increase the efficient use of our resources. This year's edition will be the second held in the Smart City Expo World Congress and the first that will take place in CEES.
SCEWC's Towards 0 Waste based the initiative on the three main ways to avoid generating waste according to the European Commission's Circular Economy strategy: the use of less materials, reusing and recycling products, and no food related waste.
THE SECOND EDITION OF TOWARDS 0 WASTE WILL CONTINUE TO INCLUDE THE SAME INITIATIVES AS LAST YEAR BUT WITH A FEW NEW ADDITIONS:
Separate waste collection
Recycling and reusing materials
The selection of materials used during the event (modular stands, decoration, lanyards...) has been designed to be recycled and/or reused.
Nutrition without Borders
Food waste will be donated to the NGO: Nutrition without Borders.
Use of biodegradable and compostable utensils
The venue uses solar panels
Part of the electric energy consumption that the event needs will be generated by the solar panels installed on the rooftop of the venue.
However, it is not only the CEES event that will be pursuing efforts Towards 0 Waste, we would like to invite everyone involved in the expo, exhibitors and visitors alike, to be a part of this initiative:
